What Actually Makes the Difference
Shropshire is damp for most of the year, and that is what dictates how often glass needs cleaning here. Mild, wet winters and mist off the Severn leave a film of algae on north-facing panes and a green line along the rubber seals, while traffic on the A5 and A49 lays down a grey haze on anything facing a main road. Neither comes off with a wipe — the frames and seals have to be brushed or it returns within days.
The local building stock matters too. A typical Shrewsbury or Battlefield semi has uPVC casements with rubber gaskets, a glazed porch and often a conservatory on the back — and each one holds dirt differently.
